Le tournoi de golf annuel du Wild avait lieu aujourd’hui, et comme le veut la tradition instaurée par coach Bombay il y a déjà plusieurs années, les joueurs sont arrivés à l’événement en roller blades, en formation grand V, et en criant « coin, coin, coin ».

Questionné au sujet des nouvelles acquisitions de son directeur général, le dernier récipiendaire du trophée Jack Adams s’est montré satisfait.

« C’est clair que de voir des gars comme Stephy, Zucc, Ian et Laughty, acquis au deadline l’année passée, intégrer notre top9/top4, c’est le fun à voir. Ça rend optimiste pour les playoffs. Pas mal certain qu’on va pouvoir passer le 1er tour cette fois! Et c’est surtout le fun pour Sacha. Le gars joue comme un fou depuis les deux dernières saisons, remportant deux Maurice Richard de suite et peut-être en route vers un 3e, alors avoir un peu de backup comme on dit ça doit lui faire plaisir. Les fans devraient être bien diverti cette année! »

Lors de l’arrivée du directeur général, celui-ci a aussitôt annoncé que Chuck Norris, la légende et vénérable entraîneur chef du club école du Minnesota, prenait sa retraite du monde du hockey afin de se concentrer sur le tournage du prochain film Expendables 5. DG Gonthier a alors confirmé la rumeur qui circulait pendant tout le mois, à savoir que Marie-Philip Poulin allait succéder à M. Norris à la barre du Wild de l’Iowa, devenant par le fait même la première femme entraîneur chef dans l’histoire de la ligue.

« On a interviewé plusieurs candidats, mais au final il apparaissait évident que MP était de loin la meilleure du lot. Et vous devriez voir ses pratiques, elle goale en tabarnak! Le développement de nos jeunes est entre bonnes mains pour les 4 prochaines années ».

Interrogé finalement sur son duo de gardiens, et s’il avait pleine confiance en lui, le DG s’est montré hésitant, essuyant une goutte de sueur qui perlait sur son front avant de répondre un « oui » bref.

« Écoutez, Soupy et Lanky, c’est des compétiteurs. On n’a pas de clear cut gardien #1, alors les deux vont se faire compétition et se pousser l’un l’autre à se dépasser. Alors oui, j’ai confiance en ce tandem. C’est sûr par contre que nos oreilles demeurent grandes ouvertes. Si on voit une bonne occasion de s’améliorer, on va le faire. Mais en même temps, on a aussi Dusty et Askarov dans le pipeline qui devraient s’en venir bientôt, alors on a le luxe de voir où le début de saison va nous amener avant de prendre une décision à ce sujet ».

Les Predators remportent la coupe Stanley

Les Predators ont remporté ce soir la troisième coupe Stanley de leur histoire. Au terme de leur parcours printanier, les hommes de Barry Trotz sont venus à bout des puissants Hurricanes. Cigare au bec durant les festivités , le dg de la franchise a accepté de nous livrer ses impressions.

" Je suis fier de cette équipe. Je suis heureux de perpétuer l'héritage de cette concession. En même temps, j'ai une pensée pour Seb Lagarde et ses Canes. C'est tellement un bon gars. Il fait un travail remarquable. Je lui souhaite une autre finale et une coupe dans les années à venir. "

Questionné sur le système de jeu défensif qu'on adopté les Predators durant les séries, le dg a raconté comment il l'avait vendu aux joueurs.
"On a joué tight en défensive. Au début des playoffs, j'ai apporté les jeans du dg des Canucks Maheu dans le vestiaire de mes Predz. Devant toute l'équipe, j'ai tenté de les enfiler. Ce fut une expérience très éprouvante. Ils ont compris ce que je voulais dire par tight en crisse. Ils ont vu tous les efforts que ça prenait. Mais bon, ça valait la peine."

Comment les champions comptaient-ils fêter leur victoire? Voici la réponse du capitaine Eichel:

" On ne peut même pas aller au bar. Chaque fois qu'on essaie, ils ne veulent pas laisser entrer Rasmus Dahlin. Avec son visage boutonneux d'ado, il a beau montrer ses cartes, ils ne le laissent pas rentrer. "

D'autres joueurs comme Sean Couturier ont évoqué l'idée de fêter leur conquête avec le club école à Granby qui vient de remporter la coupe Calder.

" Il paraît que le dg Martin Fontaine a ouvert sa piscine là-bas. C'est une option que l'on envisage pour finir la soirée!"

Après avoir gagné le trophée Conn Smythe, le gardien Tuukka Rask a laissé entendre qu'il prendrait peut-être sa retraite.

" Si c'est ce qu'il veut, il mérite de se retirer en champion. Nous aurons été choyés de l'avoir dans notre organisation ces 2 dernières années." a déclaré Tétreault.

Enfin, le dg des Predz a profité de cette rarissime attention médiatique pour remercier personnellement les organisateurs de la ligue pour leur excellent travail et leur dévouement. " Merci les gars! Merci Max de m'avoir parlé dans le casque il y a 2 ans. Ça été un tournant."

Nouveau coach dans l'ouest

Les Canucks annoncent le départ de Niklas Lindstrom à titre d’entraîneur-chef. Il sera remplacé immédiatement par l’intrépide Jeremy Colliton.

L’équipe ne semble pas vouloir donner d’informations à savoir si Lindstrom quitte de son plein gré ou s’il s’agit d’un congédiement.

Une entrevue réalisée il y a quelques jours à Vasteras en Suède avec la femme du principal concerné révèle toutefois quelques indices. Celle-ci utilise le mot « rutten » (pourri) lorsqu’elle fait référence à l’ancien club de son mari. Dans un élan passionné, elle mentionne notamment ne pas comprendre pourquoi son homme s’acharne à diriger une organisation qui gît au fond du classement de la ligue. Elle commente, « Niklas lâche pas de me dire que pleins de bons prospects s’en viennent, mais siboire, j’ai attends encore! ». Elle conclut en disant, « Il a donné sa vie pour son sport, mais là je te dis bien franchement, j’en ai mon casque du hockey. ».

Sans vouloir interpréter les propos de Greta Lindstom, nous pouvons tout de même soupçonner que des causes familiales sont derrière les récents changements chez les Canucks.

En ce qui a trait au nouveau venu, l’organisation est très enthousiaste de l’accueillir. Le président de l’organisation, Doug Glatt, voit d’un très bon oeil l’arrivée de son poulain, « Il est plus jeune que 4 gars dans l’équipe, y va bin fitter avec notre core ». Il donne ensuite son avis sur la première défaite subie par Colliton hier, « le jeune doit prendre le temps de s’acclimater à la ligue, c’est normal qu’il se soit fait péter la cène rapidement ».

Le futur est intrigant à Vancouver…

Selon le site https://hockeys''verge''rige.se , il se serait passé quelque chose entre la femme de Lindstrom et le DG Maheu. Cela semble peu probable car Maheu est un homme de vertus. Il semble plutôt que le site suédois ait mal traduit l'expression ''péter la cène''.

Ce jeune figurant dans les grands espoirs de l'équipe, la direction aurait préféré ce dernier à l'ancien Coach.

Après un début de saison convainquant, les Predators ont connu le pire mois de février de leur histoire. Avec seulement deux victoires en douze matchs, la machine a rumeurs s'est rapidement emballée dans la capitale du Country. Plusieurs chroniqueurs réclamaient la tête du coach Trotz, tandis que d'autres critiquaient les joueurs ou encore, le travail effectué depuis cet été par le directeur général Tétreault. À la suite de la dernière défaite contre la Caroline, ce dernier a réagi en faisant l'acquisition du controversé défenseur Tony DeAngelo et de l'attaquant Jaden Schwartz.

" Il n'est pas question de regarder passer la parade. Même si la compétition est féroce dans notre division, les Predators ne baisseront pas les bras. Nous ne regardons pas derrière, nous regardons devant. Nous visons le sommet de notre division pour cette saison. Chicago, Saint-Louis et Dallas sont avertis, nous allons revenir!"

Questionné sur ses récentes acquisition, Tétreault a donné les explications suivantes:
" Avec ces deux acquisitions, je suis confiant que le vent va tourner dans la bonne direction. Jaden est un bon vétéran qui va bien s'intégrer avec notre groupe. Il a de la vitesse et une excellente vision de jeu. On espère qu'il va aider Kuz a sortir de sa torpeur. "

Sur l'acquisition de DeAngelo, le DG y a été d'une savoureuse déclaration.
" Il a un talent incroyable mais criss qu'il est cave! On lui a dit qu'il n'était pas Noam Chomsky et qu'on ne voulait pas entendre ses opinions politiques. On lui a dit de laisser faire Twitter et les insultes racistes et de jouer au hockey à la place. Matt (Martin) a carte blanche pour lui faire une clé de bras ou lui mettre une claque s'il ne comprend pas."

Avec ces récents changements, la pression est maintenant sur l'entraîneur Trotz. Il doit trouver une façon de faire gagner cette équipe et ce, au plus vite. Le directeur général pourrait éventuellement perdre patience dans son cas.
